Appearances

Here's the scoop for 2024....

I'll be at the Athol (Massachusetts) Public Library reading from my book Pot Luck and serving nibbles on April 11, 2024, at 6 p.m.! Please join us if you are around. This appearance was supposed to take place the previous week--but winter decided to linger into spring and deliver an ice storm.

I'll join the Shelburne Falls Area Women's Club to talk about Pot Luck and join in the group's spring social on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center, at 53 Main Street in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

On Wednesday, June 26, at 6 p.m., I'll talk (and serve samples) to patrons at the Bigelow Free Public Library in Clinton, Massachusetts.

On Wednesday, July 31, at 6 p.m., I'll do the same for folks at the North Adams (Massachusetts) Public Library.

I'll visit Apex Orchards in Shelburne, Massachusetts, for the annual Peach Fest on Saturday, September 30, doing a cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. followed by judging a peach recipe contest at 1 p.m.

And I'll talk to the Ashfield (Massachusetts) Council on Aging about Thankgiving prep and much more on Thursday, November 7, beginning at about 11:45 a.m. at the Ashfield Congregational Church.

Be safe, cook and eat well, and don't forget to sing...

Speaking of singing, Jerry Noble and will be performing on Wednesday, May 15, at about 10:30 a.m. at the Federated Church on Route 2 in Charlemont, Massachusetts.

This free concert will included songs I had fun singing with the late Alice Parker, composer/songleader/lovely human being, pictured here eating something yummy I cooked. This event is open to all and is sponsored by the Charlemont Hawley Senior Center and the Charlemont Hawley Arts Council.

We also plan a concert of our favorite songs (we hope some of them are yours, too!) at the same location on Saturday, July 27, at 5 p.m.

And we'll both be participants in Mohawk Trail Concerts' larger salute to Alice Parker over Labor Day weekend. Details will be available soon. Meanwhile, please take a look at my remembrance of Alice, who died in December.

I love to speak to women’s clubs, libraries, senior centers, book clubs, and other groups. I also enjoy cooking and talking on television and on the radio.

I cook on Mass Appeal, a Western Massachusetts lifestyle program from time to time. (You can see me below with co-hosts Alanna Flood and Danny New.) I'm not going into the studio very often right now, but I send in videos to be aired.

One librarian wrote in a thank-you note, “You had such a rapport with the audience it felt as though we all knew you.”

My favorite topics are the ways in which food can connect us to others through memory and the life lessons one can learn from cooking and caregiving. I also conduct recipe-writing workshops and organize evenings of group cooking. I'm articulate and funny (if not modest!), and I can always sing in a pinch!

If you’d like to have me talk to your group or your book club, please use the contact form on this site.

And now ... a little video! (You can see more of me on my YouTube channel!)

Below I prepare a spring favorite (dandelion greens!) on Mass Appeal. (I forgot to add salt to the dish on the air but urge you to add a little at home.) Please enjoy my hat!

I was also interviewed a few years back for the public-television program Making It Here. (You get to see my dear late mother Taffy in this clip!)

And a little audio, courtesy of the public-radio station WFCR/NEPR:

I stop by from time to time to record a commentary or two, including this remembrance of my grandmother via soup

Here is what one Massachusetts minister wrote about one of my presentations:

It was an amazing program that Tinky Weisblat offered to our community about care-giving in general and about caring for family members with dementia, in particular.... Tinky read from her new book, Pulling Taffy: A Year with Dementia and Other Adventures. It is a year-long journal of family memories and daily stories about caring for Tinky’s mother, Jan (Taffy), in her apartment in Virginia near Tinky’s brother, and here in her home in Hawley. The book is loving and humorous and informative all at once. Others who came to the program shared their own experiences, and I realized how this is such an understated story.... Thank you, Tinky, for bringing the challenges of care-giving to our attention.
